It is with great sadness, the family of Aaron Victor Joseph Anderson, announces his passing on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the age of 82, at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Aaron is lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 54 years, Barb, daughters, Tamara (Bill) Kelly, Tracy Henuset, Tara Heard; brother Carl Anderson, sister Angela (Bernie) Jansen, in-law’s, Don (Wanda) Herlein, Maryann (Rob) Nimmo, Lorraine Kruesel, sister-in-law’s Nancy Anderson, Sheila Luctkar and Karen King and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Aaron was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, August 8, 1942, to Edwin and Margarite Anderson. He was the first of 5 children – Aaron, John, Angela, Carl and Bert. The family settled on a farm in Stockholm, Saskatchewan, and in 1958, the family relocated to Whitewood, Saskatchewan. His upbringing was filled with love, laughter, kindness and generosity. The Anderson household was a place where everyone belonged, and was the home everyone congregated to for a dose of love, laughter and cards.

Aaron moved to Regina in1960, and worked as a typesetter for the Regina Post, until he moved to Calgary in 1964. He continued working in the printing industry, until his retirement in the late 1990’s. Aaron was an entrepreneur, and by the early 1970’s, his business ventures included: revenue properties, a motel, a paving company and other undertakings too various to mention.

During this period, Aaron met Barb Herlein in Calgary (1968), and after a whirlwind romance they married in March 1969. Aaron and his wife Barb, had a fierce love and loyalty for family and friends – they cherished the moments spent with them. Friends, family and strangers alike, were welcomed into Barb and Aaron’s home where they would be fed, housed, and entertained with stories, antidotes and in endless streams of jokes and laugher.

Aaron had an infectious, contagious laugh and his charming demeanor attracted many friends from all walks of life. He enjoyed the simple things in life: cats, Timmy’s coffees, cruising around town, ice cream, hanging out with his “people’. Barb and Aaron created an enviable marriage, standing together not only facing the world with joy and a sense of humor, but with a fierce sense of obligation and devotion to each other and to those they love. They were the love of each other’s lives. Now it is time to say goodbye to Aaron – those of us left behind, will try to walk the rest of our lives bravely with out you.

A Celebration of Life for Aaron & Barbara was held on May 18, 2024.
