In Memory
Agatha McRae

It
is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Agatha Margaret McRae. Agatha
passed away peacefully in Didsbury, on Sunday, April 16th, 2023. Her
family and friends were blessed to have her here for nearly 99 years.
Agatha
was born at home near Twin Butte, Alberta - May 27th, 1924. Agatha
was the 6th child of 10 born to William and Eva Bruder. Agatha took
her schooling at the Marr school where she first met a dashing young man by the
name of Murray McRae. Agatha went on to continue her schooling at the Kermaria
Convent in Pincher Creek. Agatha worked at various jobs as a young adult, in the
Waterton and Pincher Creek areas. Then
on November 6th, 1944 Agatha married Murray McRae, the love of her
life through nearly 75 years of marriage.
At
first Murray and Agatha lived in the Pincher Creek area, eventually making the
momentous move to the Didsbury area in 1950. Here, Agatha made her life working
hard, farming and raising her children, and eventually becoming a grandmother,
great grandmother and even a great, great grandmother. Agatha enjoyed gardening
and landscaping and creating beauty around her home. Sports of all kinds were a
passion for Agatha’s competitive spirit. Through her life, Agatha enjoyed many
sports – baseball, lawn bowling, shuffle board, and golf to name a few. Agatha
enjoyed nothing better than a game of cards with friends. She excelled at many
types of art mediums, leaving behind a legacy of beauty for us to enjoy.
Murray
and Agatha enjoyed travelling and were blessed to have many adventures together
all over the world. At home, Agatha enjoyed singing in a local choir that
entertained at local lodges and events. She gave many hours of volunteer
service with the WI and the CWL, supporting her community and neighbors in many
ways. Agatha was a devoted member of her parish and enjoyed delivering meals, volunteering
in long term care and delivering the sacrament to the infirm.
Agatha
is lovingly remembered by her children Robert (Karen), Diana (Terry), Louise
(Darwin) and Tammy (Randy), her daughter-in-law, Ursula, many grandchildren,
great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren as well as many nieces and
nephews.
Agatha
was predeceased by her husband Murray, her son Russell, and her granddaughter
Melissa. Agatha was the last living member of her family of 10 siblings.
A
Private Celebration of Life was held and internment took place at the Didsbury
Cemetery.
