In Memory
Alberta Schollaardt
Alberta (Bep) Schollaardt, 96 years of age, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2023 with her children at her side. She was predeceased by her husband, William; great-grandson, Mason Lockrem; and her parents and siblings. She is lovingly remembered by her six children, Betty (Harold) Berger, Herman (Teryl) Schollaardt, Margaret (Klaus) Berger, Christian (Chris) Schollaardt, Christine (Kim) Brown, Catherine (Bob)) MacDonald; 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Alberta was born to Herman and Marje Hazelaar on August 20, 1926, in Holland. She immigrated to Canada at 24 with her parents and four brothers. They settled in Medicine Hat where she met her husband, William, and started a family. They moved to Calgary in 1956, where she lived a bus life as a stay-at-home mother. Family was everything and the house was always full of laughter.
Alberta was an artist at heart and always wished she could have been a designer of woman’s clothing. She spent countless hours knitting and blessing the family with sweaters, hats, blankets and slippers that many are still wearing today.
Alberta was a loving
and committed follower of Jesus Christ and she let her light shine to all those
that were in her life. She had a genuine love and acceptance of all those
around her and was glad to help those in need. She was known to stop and look
in every baby carriage where she would coo and smile warmly. Alberta was a living wife, mother, grandmother, and
great grandmother and will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
