Alexie Jean McDermand (nee Norquay)

Alexie passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2025 at the age of 96 years, at Timberstone Mews, Red Deer. Alexie was a beloved wife and partner for 68 years to the late Roy McDermand (2013). She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dale Clark (Joe Prince), the late Sharon Clark (2002), Steve McDermand (Ruth), and Nola McDermand (Barry Biggin). Cherished grandma of Laura (John), Greg (Nadia), Valerie, the late Russell, Connie, Robert (Eneida), Paula (Darren), Sharilee (Vern), Scott, and Chris. She will also be missed by her 12 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her dear parents, Alexander and Cecile, and her sister, Evelyn McDermand (the late Bill).

Mom enjoyed being with family and friends, and when Roy was alive, they took many trips on their motorcycle. She remained very active by water skiing, snow skiing and rollerblading well up into her mid 70’s. She always had time for a good chat with friends over a hot cup of coffee. She had a creative side, including painting. A Celebration of Alexie’s Life will take place at the Bethany Baptist Church, 3901 – 44 St. Red Deer, AB on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
