Allen Buchannon

Allen Buchannon passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the age of 73, in Sundre, Alberta, while on holidays.

Al was born in Whitemouth, Manitoba, and grew up in Nakina, Ontario. He later moved to Vancouver Island, living first in Port Alberni and then in Cumberland, British Columbia. He started working as a swamper in Gold River, logging before becoming a heavy equipment operator building roads, a career he enjoyed for 32 years. Al was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and one of the greatest friends to many. He loved playing pool, cards, and darts, and loved to win. He also enjoyed geocaching with his dog, spending time with family, and hosting summer family visits at his home. Al was predeceased by his mother, Ann; his father, Sherwood; his brothers, Kenny, Gerry, Bernie, and Scott; his sister, Trudy; and his niece, Heather. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda; his daughters, Tamara, Sherry (Roger), and Linnie (Amanda); his son, Allen (Kayla); his sisters, Sherry (Grant) of Nakina, Ontario, and Tammy; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no service, as this was Allen’s request.
