Allen Wasylishyn

Allen Wasylishyn, devoted husband, loving father and Guido, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the age of 83 years. Allen will always be lovingly remembered by his 2 daughters, Crystal Froment (Ken), Janise Gilsig (Bill); his 4 grandchildren, Korynn and Kaitlyn Froment, Maxen and Marisa Gilsig; his siblings, Donald Wasylishyn (Rena) and Sherry Bears (Thomas); as well as numerous relatives, nieces, and nephews. Allen was predeceased by his wife, Marion Wasylishyn; they shared just shy of 60 years of marriage and whom are now reunited. Allen was also predeceased by his parents, Alvina Wasylishyn and Andrew Wasylishyn

(1970 & 2006) and his brother Dale Wasylishyn (2010). Allen was born and raised in Wakaw, Saskatchewan and moved to Edmonton, Alberta where he met Marion while she was working as a car-hop at A&W. They married in 1965 and raised their family in Edmonton. They moved to Cochrane for a short while and finally settled in Airdrie to be closer to family. Allen and Marion began retirement travelling in their RV where they eventually became snowbirds landing in Yuma, Arizona. While in Yuma, Allen spent countless hours playing pool, and winning the senior olympics held at Mesa Verde RV Park. He co-ordinated many events there and was well known as the man always willing to lend a hand and welcome the ‘newbies’ to the park. Allen spent a lot of his life building and creating; ranging from large carpentry projects, decks, houses, you name it to small projects of games and birdhouses. At home in Airdrie, he shared his wealth of knowledge and life lessons with his family and enjoyed relaxing summers at the lake.

Thank you to the most caring staff at the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary for caring for dad in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dulcina Hospice.
