Amanda Todd

In the early morning of Thursday, March 12, 2026 our beloved mother, Amanda Gwendoline (Gwen Kuffner) Todd, slipped away peacefully in her sleep. She was 94 years old, and she left this world with the same quiet grace that defined her life.

Gwen’s story was one of resilience, faith, and unwavering love. Born in LaFleche, Saskatchewan on October 27, 1931, she lived through the Great Depression and the years of World War II. As a young girl, she watched her father battle tuberculosis in a sanatorium—an experience that shaped her compassion and her deep appreciation for family.

From a young age, Gwen dreamed of becoming a teacher, and she fulfilled that dream with pride. One of her first teaching assignments took her to Glentworth, Saskatchewan where she met Leon Kuffner, a handsome hardworking grain farmer. They were married in October 1952.

While Gwen taught school, they farmed and raised two daughters, Debra and Lori. Along with their church, they were also very active in their community.

Together, they enjoyed square dancing, curling, and golf. Gwen also became a champion bridge player and has a trophy to prove it. The couple also

enjoyed many winters in Mesa, Arizona.

After Leon passed away in December 1989, Gwen met and married William Todd in 1997 and lived in Lethbridge, Alberta, before moving to Airdrie, Alberta in December 2011.

In January 2020, William passed away.

To her many friends, Gwen was a light—loving, fun, generous, and always ready with a joke. She had a way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and valued.

She leaves in loving memory her daughters, Debra (Glenn) and Lori; her grandchildren, Danielle (Lonny), Jodi (Aj), Trace (Lisa), Carson, and Samuel (Kerri); and her great grandchildren, Jayda, Landon, Oakley, Gabriella, and Caleb. Each of them carries a piece of her—her gentleness, her strength, her laughter and her faith.

Gwen also leaves to mourn her brother Duane (Judy) and sister Ann (Dan), and her many nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joshiam and Mary; her brothers, Roger and Eric; and sisters, Ruth and Josephine.

As her daughters, we will forever remember our mother’s incredible faith, her tender heart, and her endearing spirit. She taught us how to love, how to persevere, and how to instill our faith. Her presence shaped our lives; her absence will be felt in every corner of our hearts.

We love you, Mom. Thank you for everything.
