Anne Quiring

In the early hours of January 8, our beloved mother peacefully slipped into the arms of Jesus. Anne Quiring, at the age of 94, had waited patiently and faithfully to go home.

Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Abram, in October 2021. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Ron Quiring (Betty), Ben Quiring (Donna) of Calgary, and Judy Fitch (Garry) of Fredericton, NB. She was a deeply cherished grandmother to Lisa Dyck (Matt), Traci Letkeman (Donovan), Jaron Fitch (Natascha), Ryan Quiring (Mary), and Adrienne Fitch Perrin (Andrew); and was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren, Joel, Luke, Silas, Jacob, Seth, Aeris, Emmy, Alister, Cru, Goldie, and Honoria.

Mom was also predeceased by her parents, Margareta and Peter; her brothers Henry, David Henry, John, Peter, and Corny; and her dearly loved sister, Mary. Mom is survived by her brothers, Aaron and Walter; and sisters, Margaret and Freida.

Anne was born at home in LaGlace, Alberta, on June 10, 1931. She received her education in a small one-room schoolhouse and continued until Grade 9, choosing then to remain on the family farm to help her mother.

Life was not always easy for Mom. After a near-fatal car accident that claimed the life of her brother and left her hospitalized for a long and difficult recovery, her faith in God never wavered. Though many challenges lay ahead throughout her life, she faced each one with unwavering strength, grace, and dignity.

To fully express what our mother meant to us—and to so many others—would fill many pages. She created a home grounded in love and security and taught us to love the Lord and to love one another.

Mom was a woman of many talents. From a young age, her sewing skills ensured that her children were clothed in warm, practical garments. Our home was often filled with the comforting aroma of freshly baked bread and cookies, and when it came to stretching the grocery budget, Mom had a remarkable gift for making every dollar last until payday.

We are forever grateful for the life and legacy our mother leaves behind. While our hearts ache and her absence leaves a deep void, we find comfort in the promise that we will meet again one day.

In memory of Anne Quiring, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) or Habitat for Humanity.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Dalhousie Community Church, 5511 Baroc Rd. NW, Calgary, AB on Monday, January 19th at 2:00 pm.
