Arlene Stevens

Arlene Margaret Stevens, our mother, grandmother, great -grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the age of 91 surrounded by her family at the Peter Lougheed Center in Calgary, AB. Arlene was born on June 3, 1934, in Tugaske Saskatchewan to Amos and Ora Border. She was an only child until age 9 when she proudly became a big sister to Garth Border.

On July 17, 1953, she married her high school sweetheart Ray Brian Stevens. She was known for her kindness, creativity, sewing, and her deep love for her family and friends. Nothing brought Arlene greater joy than shopping for those she cared about. Her efforts to save Sears didn't go unnoticed, and she tried with all her might to save the Bay.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Deb (Max) McInnes, Karen Romanyshyn, Patti (Rod) Stevens; grandchildren, Chad (Amanda) Romanyshyn, Amanda (Garrad) Hauser, Randi (Chris) Wilkins, Noah (Serena) Miessner, Travis (Melissa) Kerns-Stevens, Marles (Michael) Kerns-Dyck; and 9 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Calgary Humane Society. A Celebration of Life will be held in Calgary for family and friends at 3 Deer Ridge Close SE, Calgary, AB on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 2-5pm.

I will never forget the countless good times at nana and poppa’s. She tried very hard to make every family get together as special as possible. Thank you for all the love and wonderful memories.

My sincere condolences to you all - I know you have cherished memories of her as a Sister, Sister-in-law, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, Great grandmother as I do as her cousin. Arlene cherished her family above all and her friendships many which have lasted over 80 years which is a significant accomplishment. As you stated the world has lost a grand shopper, a lady with a great smile and an eye for a bargain - she had a card and a gift for all occasions and Christmas will miss an over the top gift giver. May she rest in peace in the arms of the lord with Ray the love of her life.
