April 4th, 1949 - April 12th, 2024
Barbara Anderson

It is with great sadness the family of Barbara Josephine Anderson announces her sudden passing on April 12, 2024 at the age of 75 at her home in Airdrie, Alberta. Barb is survived by her step-daughters Tamara (Bill) Kelly, Tracy Henuset, Tara Heard, sisters Lorraine Kruesel, Mary Ann (Rob) Nimmo, brother Don (Wanda) Herlein, sister-in-law Angela (Bernie) Jansen, brother-in-law Carl Anderson, sister-in-law’s Nancy Anderson, Sheila Luctkar, Karen King and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Barb was predeceased by her loving husband Aaron Anderson, her parents John and Mary Herlein, sister Rita Herlein and brother Anthony Herlein, in-laws Edwin and Margarite Anderson, brothers in law’s George Abel and Albert Kruesel, John and Bert Anderson, sister-in-law’s Audrey Herlein, Sharon Anderson, Maureen Anderson, son-in-law’s Arthur Henuset and Don Hansen.

Barb wore many hats: cherished wife, stepmom, sister (in-law,) friend, confidant, Baba, aunt, niece, daughter, employee. She excelled at everything.

Born in Kerrobert Saskatchewan, Barb was raised in Major Saskatchewan, moved to Calgary Alberta after high school graduation in 1967 and soon met the love of her life, Aaron Anderson. In March of 1969 Barb & Aaron married and so began their lifelong journey of just over 54 years. Barb worked various accounting positions in Calgary. She balanced it all ever so gracefully. She had charm & charisma, everyone liked her and would seek her out for a chat, advice or just a laugh.

Baba inherited 3 stepdaughters: Tami (5) Tracy (3) and Terri (2). Barb could be depended upon to pick up and drop off the girls when their dad was unable to. Barb was a tall, hip, cool lady– a ‘70’s icon – Bianca Jagger eat your heart out.

Like the chrysalis to the butterfly, she transformed to Grandma hood so naturally. She adored her grandkids and would take them whenever allowed, smothering them with love, kisses, attention and a few presents. She took such joy in the simple things in life: her grandkids, her nieces and nephews, playing cards with her family or chilling with friends. Everyone was welcomed and well fed with Grandma’s Gravy and Potatoes, Cabbage rolls and Grabroska.

Barb and Aaron’s enviable marriage was tested as every marriage is, but it managed to survive every storm. They were soulmates, their bond and love for each other was entwined like a rose to a trellis. Sadly, their lifelong bond was severed 5 short months ago with the passing of her beloved Aaron. They are now playing cards & laughing with their brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers and friends that have gone before them. What a reunion that would be.

Celebration of Life for both Barb and Aaron was held on, May 18, 2024.
