In Memory
Barry Mawer

Following a short and hard fought battle with cancer, Barry passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and the strength of his faith on Friday, September 12 at the age of 73. Barry’s strong faith was the foundation to being a cherished husband to Jackie for 48 years and loving father (hero) to children, Crystal, Cory, and Dana. He loved sports, music and helping those he loved. Barry was always there to support family and cheer on children and grandchildren, while travelling great distances to do so.
Barry loved the sunshine, always sporting a healthy tan from the many adventures that he took with his travel partner Jackie and family whenever they were available. He loved loud music and attended many concerts, checking off most of the bands on his bucket list. We made fabulous memories that we will cherish for eternity.
Barry wore many hats, such as; drummer, Air Cadet, gas jockey, millworker, butcher, welder, coach, cement pumper, working his way into management. He enjoyed an early retirement at the age of 58 and spent a lot of time on the golf course.
Barry’s commitment to family and the love of a good time had him at every wedding and family reunion. You would find him sharing stories, jokes, dancing and spreading good cheer. Barry's listening ability helped people feel confident and at ease. His generosity held no bounds and his BEAR HUGS will be missed by all who were fortunate to call him family or friend.
Barry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jackie; daughters, Crystal (Archie Pike), Dana (Archie Kossigbo); daughter-in-law, Naomi Krawiec (Jason); grandsons, Jonathon, Marcus, Grayson, Hendrix, and Onyx; granddaughters, Cadence, Lakelyn, Paxton, and Sterling. He is also survived by his brother, Kenny Mawer (Linda); sisters, Cheryl Bergevin, Corinne Haack, Sandy MacDonald (Don), Judy Skrenek; sister-in-laws, Shawn Mawer (Dale), Penny Di Iorio (Lorenzo), Charmaine Dittrick; mother-in-law, Natalie Alfred, brother-in-law; Danny Alfred (Debbie) as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Barry was predeceased by his son, Cory; granddaughter, Rosary; father, Edward; mother, Vivian; brother, Gary; father-in-law, Jack; and brothers-in-law, Réal, Murray, Paul; and niece, Aspen.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Mary’s Catholic Parish, 10 River Heights Dr., Cochrane, Alberta, on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM with luncheon to follow.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father's passing. From the moments I met him in our high school days, I remember him as a kind and doting father whose warmth left a lasting impression. I'm thinking of you and your family during this difficult time and sending condolences to you, your mother, and all who loved him. His legacy lives on in the beautiful person you are.
With love,

These are but a few of the reactions I have felt since I learned of your illness & passing.
I am unable to fathom how your most loved are feeling.
I am grateful for the years I did have you in my life.
Unfortunate for us all that your job here on earth came to its end so abruptly & before any of us were ready to say “goodbye”.
Our memories made together will be treasured.
You will forever be in our hearts.
