In Memory

Bernice Jean Bogner

November 2nd, 1936 - December 29th, 2024
Bernice Jean Bogner

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Bernice Bogner, on Sunday, Dec 29, 2024, at the age of 88.

Mom will always be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Brenda (Ken) Hurlbut of Airdrie, Debbie (Cary) Howden of Calgary, Diana Senyk of Edmonton, Bonnie (Harvey) Wilson of Calgary, Laurie (Gordon) Botham of Sundre, and Lois (Walter) Chitwood of Airdrie; and special friend, Larry Thompson of Red Deer. She was also blessed with 17 Grandchildren and 22 Great-Grandchildren.

Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Russell (1990); son-in-law, Orest (2000); granddaughter, Tammy (2005); husband, Fred (2013); brother, Ken (2015); daughter, Joanne (2018); and grandson, Justin (2020).

Bernice spent her life working to raise her family and pursuing a further education to allow her to work more closely with the elderly. She loved to listen to the stories told of the ‘yester-year’ by the Pioneers. She was active in the church most of her life and with her love for music, she also sang with the choir.

Bernice loved to be surrounded by people, young and old, especially her family. She loved to visit, play cards and above all, cook and bake for meals for any and all occasions. During her relaxing time, you could find her gardening in the summer and doing needlework or crocheting in the winter.

A service will be held in her memory at:

Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 18 Selkirk Boulevard, Red Deer, Alberta

On February 1, 2025 at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society, www.alzheimer.ca/en would be greatly appreciated.

My sister-in -law Bernice never complained, no matter the challenge, with 7 girls I’m sure she had a few! We had great times at school especially playing fox & hound in winter, hopscotch, skipping, going to sportsday in Leader! Although we lived many miles apart we made the best of each visit even time to share a few secrets! Rest in peace Bernice. You & Lloyd together again!

I am so sorry for your loss, she will be missed. A beautiful lady both on the inside and out. I remember visits she made to Langley making her famous fried bread.
I am so glad we got to visit in June, I will miss you “mommsie”.
