Blake Curtis

It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of Blake Joseph Curtis, who left this world far too soon on April 19, 2026, just days before his 27th birthday.

Blake was born in Sundre on April 25, 1999, to Tanya Curtis and Shane Hendricks. Blake was raised in both Sundre and Bowden, Alberta.

It was in Sundre where Blake met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, and devoted partner of nearly ten years, Lexus FirstRider-Curtis. Together, they built a life grounded in love, loyalty, and unwavering support. Blake was warmly embraced by the FirstRider family, becoming not just a partner, but a son, a brother, and a proud uncle to Goldie and Hansen, who brought him endless joy.

Blake was known for his big heart and even bigger expressions of love. He never hesitated to say “I love you,” and he meant it every time. His kindness, charm, and sense of humour were felt instantly by anyone who met him. He had a rare way of making people feel seen, valued, and cared for—whether they had known him for years or just moments. Blake would give anything to help others, often putting their needs before his own without a second thought.

He lived with a depth of love that many aspire to but few truly achieve. Though the world did not give him all he deserved, Blake never stopped loving it—and the people in it—with his whole heart.

Blake was predeceased by his father, Shane Hendricks, and his Grampa, George Curtis. He is survived by his wife, Lexus FirstRider-Curtis, his mother, Tanya Curtis; his brother and sister, Bryson and Emmy (Emerald) Patton; his gramma, Dawne Johnson-Curtis; as well as his large and extended family who loved him deeply.

Blake will never be reduced to a memory. He lives on in the laughter, the love, and the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His presence will always be felt, his voice always remembered, and his love forever carried forward.

He is deeply missed and will be endlessly loved.

Blake’s service will take place on Saturday, May 9th at 1:00PM at the Sundre Royal Canadian Legion Branch. All are welcome and invited to share their respects and memories of Blake during this time.
