In Memory
Brenda Clayton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Clayton (nee Sweetman) on January 23, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta. She didn’t have the strength to beat breast cancer twice. She was Born on January 4, 1954, in Port Perry, Ontario and moved to Alberta in 1978 where she remained to raise her family. Brenda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend.
Brenda was a feisty lady with a zest for life and didn’t hold back when it came to sharing her opinion. Brenda enjoyed many hobbies, including cooking, camping, crosswords, and baking her famous carrot cake. She loved spending time with friends at the legion in Airdrie and Carstairs and made certain when traveling that a stop be made at the local legion. She served many roles at the Airdrie Legion; branch manager, Ladies Auxiliary President and was an associate member for over 40 years. She made many cherished memories and knew the regulations like the back of her hand..
Brenda will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gerald Clayton, daughter Christine Wallace (Troy), son Wayne Hallett (Fe), son James Hallett (deceased), sister Marilyn Kearns (deceased), sister Sharon (Don) Woodrow, brother Glen (Lynne) Sweetman, grandsons Dylan, Philip, Kelly, and Trey, parents Ross and Marg Sweetman (deceased), numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, step-children, and step-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Airdrie, located at 132 1st Ave. NE, Airdrie, AB, on January 27th 13:00-16:00. Per Brendas wishes please do not bring or send flowers. Rather a donation to the Airdrie Legion Poppy fund in her honor would be appreciated.
Brenda will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in peace.
