Brian Coverdale

January 20th, 1947 - April 1st, 2024
Brian Coverdale

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Alfred Coverdale, aged 77, on Monday, April 1, 2024, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Brian passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Didsbury Hospital.

Brian is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 55 years, Karan Coverdale, who diligently cared for him and stood by his side. He will be deeply missed by his children, Michael, James, and Jennifer Coverdale; as well as his grandchildren, Matthew, Caleb, Abigail, Eric, Jordan, Caileigh, Stephanie; and his great-grandchild, Miles. Brian is also survived by his brother, Donald; sister, Dorothy; and special friends who were more like family - the Farleys and Trumpers.

Brian's life was defined by his love for his family and friends. Brian had a volunteer spirit, offering his time and talents in many capacities through the years, including St. John’s Anglican Church, Cub Scouts, and the Inglewood Credit Union. Brian found fulfillment in his connections with family and friends and was known as a ‘jack of all trades’. He had a love for classic cars, and spent time as a member of the Alberta Pioneer Auto Club. Brian enjoyed making memories on road trips, and through camping and traveling. He valued moments shared with loved ones, and his humor brought laughter into the lives of those around him.

Brian was a devoted worker and dedicated his entire working career to Alberta Government Telephones (AGT), which later became Telus, where he found joy in the ever-evolving world of technology and communications. Although born and raised in Calgary, Brian and Karan made Carstairs their home 14 years ago, where they continued to build a life filled with love.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Didsbury Hospital for their kindness and care of Brian during his final days.

Brian's family and friends are grateful for the precious time they shared with him and for his love and friendship. He will be remembered for his devotion as a husband, father, and friend.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Brian’s Life will be held at C3 Calgary West Church, 91 Commercial Court, Calgary Alberta on Wednesday, April 10 at 2:00 pm.

Brian will be dearly missed, but we find solace in knowing that he has found rest in the loving embrace of Jesus. The family would love for everyone to stay for food and stories after the service.

We will miss you cousin. It is so hard to believe you are no longer with us, however knowing you are at peace and no longer struggling with Parkinson’s is a blessing. Big hugs and love being sent up to heaven.
