Brian Thomas Balson

October 3rd, 1947 - October 6th, 2024
Brian Thomas Balson

Brian passed away peacefully after a tenacious battle with glioblastoma, a cancerous brain tumour. He rallied for his birthday and was able to enjoy time with family and friends.

Brian leaves a legacy of love to his wife of 51 years, Tandy; daughter, Andrea (Lucas) Hval; son, Chris (Jackie) Balson; and his seven grandchildren, Faith, Katie, Logan, Emily, Hailey, Kyra and Shantal.

Brian had a servant’s heart and volunteered in numerous ways throughout his life. His strong faith, determination to live each day to the best of his ability, and incredible sense of humour made him an inspiration to many.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Baptist Church 1009 East Lake Blvd NE, Airdrie, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 2 pm. In honour of Brian’s colourful personality the family is asking for guests to wear their favourite bright colours to celebrate an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada www.braintumour.ca.

Tandy, I’m very sorry for your loss. Deepest condolences to you and your family! I came upon this by accident while reading the obituary of another dear friend and just went to “more obituaries “ so was surprised to see his name. I know what a difficult time this is, treasure all your awesome memories! Take care. Your cousin.

Please accept my deepest condolences to you Tandy and family. I didn’t know Brian long, but I so enjoyed my time I did get to spend with him as his caregiver. His knowledge, insight and positive outlook I will always look back on and smile. He taught me to be a better person in my short time knowing him. Many hugs to you Tandy.

Brian — I’m very thankful you were in my life! I have nothing but fond memories of many great conversations about life and faith in our Lord. You inspired me how you ended your earthly journey as you continued to esteem others higher than yourself. I will pray for your beautiful family and look forward to sharing in our eternal fellowship.
