In Memory
Carter Thompson
Carter Thompson, a Hero to many, a Brother to some,
an Uncle to a few and a Son to one, gained his much deserved angel wings on Saturday,
September 9th, 2023 after a long fiercely fought battle with cancer, but the
cancer is not the totality of Carter’s life, but just a mere glimpse of the
strength, grit and determination he had.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Tracy; his
brother, Jack and his wife Bailey and their boys, Colt and Wyatt; his sister,
Alyssa and her husband Colby and their girls, Hayden and Dawson; as well as his
‘other’ sister (inside joke) Olivia. He
is survived by his grandmother, Diane Thompson and countless Aunts and Uncles
as well as a great bunch of cousins.
Carter was born on April 1st, 2009 and was a plump,
healthy baby boy until he was three months old at which time he went into heart
failure, he then had a heart transplant on September 24th, 2009. We all received the ultimate gift when he had
his heart transplant, as we were blessed with 14 beautiful years with him that
would not have been possible if it wasn’t for such a selfless sacrifice from his
donor. Carter had many medical struggles
because of the anti – rejection medications that were needed to keep his immune
system suppressed, but that was the only part of him that could be suppressed
with my sweet boy… his beautiful old soul, kindness, generosity of spirit,
compassion, handsome smile and incredibly infectious laugh and last but not
least, his sense of humor were all larger than life. His short time here has taught us all so many
lessons in life, but most of all he taught us the true meaning of unconditional
love.
A Celebration of Carter’s Life will be held at the Sundre Curling Rink on Sunday, September 17th, 2023 at 12:00 PM with a tea to follow. For anyone that knew Carter would know he loved his brother’s old FORD truck, so this last week Jack and Colby have been getting it ‘road worthy’ to give Carter the best send off and his last ride to the cemetery, so please join and make it the longest and coolest convoy ever with my boy leading the pack!
