In Memory
Cecile (Sally) Marie Alice Surette

It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Cecile (Sally) Surette, (née Filiatrault) on Monday, January 19, 2026, with her daughters and granddaughter by her side.
Sally was born in May of 1936 in Maillardville/Coquitlam, B.C., daughter of Jean Baptiste and Marie Filiatrault and granddaughter of Adrienne & Melodie Aubin.
She will be greatly missed and forever lovingly remembered by her 3 daughters, Sandra (Ray), Dianna (Rick) and Shelley (Derian); 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sally was predeceased by her husband, Paul; and her 5 siblings, Henry, Theresa Roberge, Armand, Agnes Fisk and Maurice.
Sally attended Our Lady of Lourdes school in Maillardville, then at the young age of 18 she met the love of her life, Paul and was married May 8, 1954. Paul had joined the Navy in Victoria, B.C, where Sally joined him and raised their 3 daughters. The family moved a few times around the greater Victoria area, until retiring in Nanaimo, B.C. Sally worked hard throughout her life highlighting waitressing at the Royal City Cafe and later dedicating over 20 years to Nursing. She went on to become the owner and operator of her own antique shop, Sally’s Treasures. She also spent many years devoting herself to caring for Paul before his passing in May of 2011.
Throughout the years Sally enjoyed doing many things that involved visiting, socializing and meeting new people. Among her most cherished memories was her involvement with Eastern Star where she was honoured with the title of Worthy Matron alongside Paul as Worthy Patron. She was also happily involved with the Red Hatters, organizing and attending many functions in her favourite purple dress. She loved to go fishing from her own boat with Rick or anyone who was up for the challenge. Bingo was a favourite past time as was playing Crib, especially with her sister, Agnes.
Sally was loved by so many and friended by all she met, caring deeply for everyone in her life. She had soft understanding brown eyes and a smile that lit up every room she went into. She will be missed by all.
Although she is terribly missed, we are comforted knowing she is in heaven with her husband, family and friends who have been waiting for her. She is at peace and pain free now, leaving a legacy of love, kindness and forgiveness.
Heartfelt thank you goes to the Nurses and staff of the Drumheller Health Centre for their care and compassion in the comforting of Sally during her difficult times.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in support of Dementia. Thank You.
