Cecil Steed

Cecil Steed, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Southwood Hospice.
Cecil was born on May 12, 1936 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to John and Jane Steed, where he was raised.
Cecil came to Canada with a couple of friends when he was 18 years old. He worked and traveled across the country before eventually making his home in Calgary.
Cecil devoted his life to his wife Sheila and his family. He worked as an orderly at the Calgary General Hospital, where he met Sheila Harmston. Cecil and Sheila were married on June 21, 1967, in Calgary. Cecil continued his career at the Calgary General Hospital then Peter Lougheed Hospital until his retirement at the age of 62.
Cecil and Sheila were blessed with three children, David, Carrie, and Glen.
Cecil is lovingly remembered by his children, David (Lori) Steed, Carrie (Albert Sr.) Cadman, and Glen (Pamela) Steed; he was a proud grandfather, to Kristopher (Carolina) Steed, Alexandra Cadman, Brandon (Sadia) Badiuk, Evan Badiuk, Jessica (Dylan) Koch, Amanda (Justin) Thomson, Mitchell (Madison) Higson, Katherine Cadman, Erin Higson, Carter Steed, Angela Cadman, and Albert Jr. Cadman; he was also blessed with great- grandchildren, Bennett Thomson, Skylar Thomson, Yasin Yasin Cecil Adhan-Badiuk, and Odin Koch, along with many dear friends.
Cecil was predeceased by his brother, Alexander Steed; and his parents, John and Jane Steed.
Cecil's generosity and deep love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He found joy in the simple things, time with family, sharing a laugh, and singing whenever he had the chance. Whether he was telling jokes or hosting family gatherings, Cecil had a way of making every moment special.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Arthur J. E. Child Cancer Centre, the AHS Home Hospice Home Care Team, and the Southwood Hospice Care Team for their compassionate care and support during Cecil's final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Centre Street Church, Bearspaw Campus, 33 Damkar Court NW, Calgary, Alberta on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
