In Memory
Charles Norton

Charles “Charlie” Glenn Norton passed away on April 30, 2026, at the age of 90 years.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his devoted wife Patti; his son Dean (Shelly); his cherished granddaughter Heather; his brother David; brother-in-law Grant Young (JoAnne); sister-in law Kathie James (Brandy &Tyler).
Charlie was born in Nanton, Alberta, and spent his early years on the family farm in Stavely. After graduating, he attended Olds College, where he formed friendships that would last a lifetime.
He enjoyed a long and dedicated career as a Superintendent with DBC. One of his most memorable adventures came when he and a close friend spent six months working in Alaska—an experience that provided countless stories and fond memories, often revisited together over a few cocktails.
Charlie had a passion for travel and looked forward to annual trips with friends to Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, and Alaska. Closer to home, some of his greatest joys were the many years spent at the Shuswap and time at the family farm in Stavely.
Known for his independent spirit and dry sense of humour, Charlie embraced life fully. When he could no longer drive, he purchased a scooter—complete with a Harley-Davidson sticker—which he seemed to take as permission to ride it like the real thing. He could often be seen happily buzzing around town visiting friends or heading to the Best Western to play the VLTs.
A quieter but equally treasured tradition was watching Jeopardy! each evening with his son Dean.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Stan and Ruby Norton, and his brother Don.
Special thanks go out to Deanna Weir, Dave & Joy Kernaghan and the AHS Palliative Nurses.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
