Clarence Hagemann

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Clarence Hagemann, 86, of Ponoka, surrounded by his loving family at the Ponoka General Hospital on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. He was the son of the late Matthew Hagemann and Rosie May (Goetz).

Clarence worked in seismic for many years. His work took him as far north as the Northwest Territories and to B.C. where he helped build the guardrails to the Rogers Pass. He then managed Big Sky Drilling in Montana and then back to Siesform Drilling in Wetaskiwin where he managed the office.

He then worked on his farm for fifty plus years while driving school bus for twenty-two of those years. Clarence loved socializing with all the kids, young and the older ones too.

Clarence is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 53 years, Donna; his daughter, Rose Lynn and her son, Joshua; his son, Darin (Yvonne) and his stepsons, John and Ryan. Clarence also leaves behind his brother, Walter (Gladys) Hagemann; his sister, Lorraine (Gordon) McFadden; his brothers in law, Ron (Thelma) Mason of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and Todd (Tara) Mason of British Columbia, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

With respect for Clarence’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. If family or friends desire, memorial tributes in his memory may be made directly to the Ponoka General Hospital, Rimbey Home Care, and especially to Rimbey FCSS, or the charity of one’s choice.

A great man, who worked hard his entire life, and always found time to smile. Whenever I feel like I’m overworked, I always think about Clarence getting up early to drive the school bus, before tending to his farm duties. Amazing man, who will be missed by all who knew him.
