In Memory
Colin John Hough
Colin
passed away tragically on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the age of 45. Colin was
the beloved husband to his wife, Laurie and father of two incredible boys,
Kevin (9) and John (4). He was much loved by his parents, Janet and Bob Holman;
his brother, Matthew (niece Malin, nephew Hawken), his stepsisters, Tabitha
Caldwell (Steve) and Janice Holman (Andy) and his biological father, Charles
Hough. He was loved as well by his mother-in law, Lorraine; father-in-law,
Kevin; brother-in-law, Michael (Nelia), his large extended family and his many
friends and colleagues.
Colin
moved west as a young adult seeking work. He immediately fell in love with the
Rocky Mountains and soon after met the love of his life in their shadow. Colin
and Laurie chose to plant roots in the growing City of Airdrie where they could
raise their children in the supportive community of many other young families.
Airdrie was their forever home, and they would never consider living anywhere
else. Colin took immense pride in working for Rockyview County and for its
people.
Colin
was a quiet, steady presence in the life of his family. He was an active father
who was happiest watching and building Lego with his family and helping his
children participate in sports such as soccer and swimming but especially his
beloved game of baseball. He was rarely seen without a ball cap bearing the
logo of his favourite teams, the Chicago White Sox, Dallas Cowboys or Calgary
Flames.
Colin’s
family want to thank the community of Rockyview County, their friends and
neighbours, and their employers for wrapping them in a blanket of comfort
during this time of unthinkable loss.
Friends
and colleagues are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Colin which will
be held at the Westin Calgary Airport on Sunday, August 18th at 2:00
PM.

You may recall we are good friends of your Mom and Dad and attended your marriage to Colin and at least one party at your parent's home where we met you and Colin again. We were so impressed each time we met you both. He was a good man.
We send you our most heartfelt sympathy after his tragic passing. We are struggling to find helpful words but do hope that the cherished memories you built together bring comfort now and going forward. We also wish you and the boys continuing courage and strength and that each day becomes a little bit easier.
Do remember that we visit Calgary periodically so please let us know if ever there is anything we can do.

I worked with him again in summer 2019. He was a great leader with a steady presence. He was the best lead-hand in the roads department. I haven't seen him in 5 years and his death has had a great impact on me. My condolences go out to Colin's family, friends, co-workers (past and present) and everyone who interacted with him. May the Lord comfort you all in this time of great sorrow.

He was one of the best players and teammates that I had the privilege of playing baseball with.
Rest easy, Colin.
