Dana Fancy

It is
with great sadness that the family of Dana Gilbert Fancy announce his passing
on Thursday, July 6, 2023. He passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years
surrounded by his family.
Dana is
lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Agnes; sons, Timothy (Tammy) and
Cameron (Connie); daughter, Tracy (John); 7 grandchildren, Taylor, Byron,
Logan, Colin, Kale (Kathleen), Tyson, and Abbey; and 1 great-grandson, Oliver. Survivors
also include his sister, Helen Gates, Fort Saskatchewan AB; and numerous
nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was
predeceased by his parents Arnold and Mabel Fancy, sisters Norma Pepper of Sarnia,
ON & Fern Norby of Claresholm, AB, and his infant son Marty.
Dana was born October 7, 1937, in Claresholm, AB and spent his entire life tending the Fancy family farm and ranching in Stavely, AB where he lived and raised his family in the house that his father built. Dana was a member of the Stavely Elk’s Lodge, played hockey in his youth, and coached minor league and senior men’s Stavely Spurs hockey teams; winning coach of the year. He won multiple trap shooting awards and was most fond of his team of horses and wagon that he provided for local parades for several years. Dana was passionate about his red angus cattle and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors, drinking coffee and reminiscing about old times.
A Private Family Inurnment will be held at the Stavely Cemetery.

Dana was one of a kind!
He was a person you always looked forward to seeing and visiting and when he left you felt glad you knew him.
His sense of humour was unrivalled and his view of his own personal experiences was extremely entertaining.
We will miss his visits
