In Memory
Daniel Vitale

Daniel Carl Vitale, of Airdrie, Alberta, passed away peacefully on March 25th after a brief period of declining health at the age of 79.
Dan was known for his easy going, quiet personality and kind heart. He had a twinkle in his eye along with a gentle smile that always made others feel at ease. Dan said a lot, without saying a lot and was always attentive to those who were fortunate enough to be around him.
Dan was born in Montreal, Quebec and was the oldest son of Louise and Carl Vitale. At 10 years of age the family moved to Toronto and this was home for around 20 years. Dan was grateful for the many lifelong friendships that he formed during this time. In 1981 Dan moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and it was here that he married and started a family. In recent years Dan moved to Airdrie, Alberta, where he made many new memories with family and friends.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Louise in 2018. He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Jeremy (Kylie) and Ben; and their mother, Debbie; his grandchildren, Leyton, Renley and Harlyn; his brother, Jeff (Cathy); and his sister, Maria (Paul); and nieces and nephews that loved their uncle dearly – Michael (Kara), Paul (Emily), Matt (Laurie), and Sarah (Moises).
One of Dan’s greatest pleasures was getting out to play golf with his family and friends. He was always a true gentleman on the course complimenting the guys in his foursome when they made a good shot or sunk a putt. He played the game just like his dad Carl. In more recent years his shot from the tee was often followed by him asking “where’s my ball” and most often the answer was “it’s right down the middle!”
Dan’s happiest times were when he was gathered with his family, in Airdrie with his boys, Ben and Jeremy, his grandchildren and Jeff and Cathy and family. He also enjoyed visits to New Hampshire with his sister Maria and her family.
Dan and his family would like to thank the staff in Unit 39 at The Peter Lougheed Hospital for their compassionate care and support during a difficult time.
