Daryl Claude Whetter

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Daryl Whetter on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the age of 62.

Daryl was born on December 15, 1962 in Banff, Alberta to Russell and Ella Whetter. He spent his preschool years in Canmore, Alberta. When he was 7 years old, the Whetter family moved to Crossfield, Alberta, where Daryl grew up along with his 6 siblings, Sandy, Marty, Roy, Al, Ron and Nancy. In 1981, Daryl graduated from George McDougall High School in Airdrie. He then pursued a career as a Parts Technician at SAIT. He worked at Alberta Transportation for several years, and then he worked at SAIT for 22 years. He also did mechanical repair work in the oil and gas industry with his brother Roy.

Daryl loved playing sports, especially hockey, as well as baseball, and cheering for his favourite sports teams. Daryl had a gentle spirit and he loved kids and animals.

Daryl was predeceased by his brother, Roy in 2019; and his father, Russell Whetter in 1978.

Daryl will be greatly missed by his mother, Ella; and his siblings and their families, Sandy (Chase & Chelsea), Marty (Carly & Jennifer), Al, Ron and Nancy (Darren, Mitchell & Tessa); Cheston, Amy and their kids Satie & Roy, and Sharmaine & Jatinder.

Daryl touched the lives of many people, he was a kind man with a big heart.

A Celebration of Life for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
