In Memory
Dave Bruce

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David Fraser Bruce of Calgary, AB. He died peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, with his family by his side. Born in Saskatchewan, Dave spent his childhood in BC where he made lifelong friends. They shared a childhood of antics and adventures. He moved to Calgary, where his children, Jen and Kris were born, and where he met the love of his life, Laura. They moved to Fairview in 1995, where they still happily reside. Known for his great sense of humor and the warm hugs he gave, Dave will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, and clever mind. He had a natural ability to make people feel welcome and cared for and easily made friends wherever he went. Whether someone needed a hand with a project, a shoulder to lean on, or simply a laugh, he was always willing to step in. His clever remarks and well-timed jokes brightened every day and brought joy to those around him. He approached life with curiosity and spontaneity and was always up for an adventure. Dave had endless enthusiasm for life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time with family and friends, and he never met a dessert (or a nap) he didn’t like. Above all, Dave loved his family deeply. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose guidance, humor, and generosity shaped the lives of those who knew him best. His kindness and spirit will continue to live on in the people he loved and the many lives he touched. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Laura, his children Jen and Kris, their partners Eric and Stefanny, his granddaughter Fynley, and his granddog Hank. He will also be sorely missed by his brother Mark and sister Marilyn, and their families, as well as his neighbours and friends near and far. Dave’s family extends a heartfelt thanks to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time, as well as the Southern Alberta Lung Transplant program and everyone involved in Dave’s care during his extra bonus years.
A celebration of life will be held May long weekend (details to follow). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that people consider giving the gift of life through registration for organ and tissue donation.
If Dave had one last thing to offer, it surely would have been an “I Love You” with a big warm hug.

I will never forget the warmth and kindness Dave showed us. He had a way of making people feel seen, comfortable, and truly welcomed. In such a short time, he became a very special person in our lives.
We will deeply miss him—his big, warm hugs that always made everything feel a little better, and our afternoon drinks together that we will forever cherish.
Our hearts are with his family during this difficult time. 💔
