Dave Hamm

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Dave Hamm, who left us at the age of 67. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Candy Hamm, and his parents, Harold and Patricia Hamm.

Dave will be deeply missed by his children, Jennifer Kerr, Brandy Mergaert (Jason – predeceased), and David Hamm (Erica). He was a proud and loving Papa to his grandchildren, Jonathan Hamm, Nikolas Bonneau, Cameron Mergaert, Savannah Bonneau, and Molly Hamm. He will also be remembered with love by his siblings, Brenda Sharpe (Jody), Cheryl Hamm (predeceased), Scott Hamm (Ann), and Wendy Lostracco (Mike). Uncle Dave leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless memories that will be cherished forever.

Dave loved his family with his whole heart, and nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his grandkids. He was the master of the classic Dad joke, always ready with a pun or one-liner, usually followed by groans and laughter. If you met Dave, chances are you left with a smile—and at least one joke to remember him by.

He also had a lifelong love for drawing cartoons. With a pen always in his pocket, he turned napkins at truck stops and restaurants across Alberta into tiny pieces of art. His cartoons became his signature, and a way he quietly left his mark on the world.

Though our hearts ache with his absence, we find comfort knowing that Dave is back with the love of his life, Candy. Since her passing, a part of him had been missing and now they are together again.

In keeping with Dave’s wishes, there will be no memorial service at this time. Some of his ashes will be spread by family, and both he and Candy will be laid to rest together at a later date.
