Delores Winger passed away with her husband by her side at the Red Deer Hospice on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at the age of 72 years.

Delores will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 32 years, Doug; son, Brad (Betty) Saretsky and grandson, Dana; daughter, Michelle Gufstafson, grandchildren Chelsey, Shaylene and Cory; daughter, Tammy Lee, grand-daughter, Lateisha (Austin), great-grandchildren, Kolbi, Ryliegh and Nash, grandson, Jordan and grand-daughter, Klarissa; brother-in-law, Lance Brekke; nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends. Delores was predeceased by her parents, Edith and Edwin Cadogan; twin brother, Desmond (Desi) Cadogan; and older sister, Marilyn Brekke.

Delores was born and grew up in Ponoka, AB on February 8th,1951. Later in her young adult life she settled in Red Deer and made it home to raise her two daughters. Delores met Doug 40 years ago through mutual friends. It was love at first sight; they both knew they had each found their soulmate. Their relationship continued to grow over the next few years until Doug, Delores and her girls became a family when Doug and Delores married on August 18, 1990. During these young family years Delores loved to take Michelle and Tammy to the beach at a local lake to enjoy the sun and play in the sand. The whole family enjoyed camping trips and spending time outdoors.

As a mature student, Delores attended Red Deer College and completed the Secretarial Science Program.  Through her adult life, Delores worked at a variety of jobs, but her favorite jobs were those that allowed her to work outdoors.

When Delores and Doug became empty nesters, they continued to enjoy country music, going out dancing and getting together with friends. Delores’ all time favorite pastime was to get out of the city to go camping to enjoy nature and sitting by the campfire. One of the greatest joys in life for  Delores was the time she and Doug spent with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These precious times together warmed their hearts and brought smiles to their faces.

Doug worked away up North for over 10 years, a week or two at a time, then he would be back home for a week or two. Delores missed Doug immensely when he was away and always looked forward to him coming home to be with her. During the last few years as Delores’ health declined, Doug spent his time with Delores as a devoted loving husband and caregiver right up until the time of her passing.

Delores spent her last weeks and days at the Red Deer Hospice with Doug by her side day and night. Words cannot express the gratitude for the incredible team at the hospice for the care and comfort given to Delores at her journeys end.
