Dennis was born in Coulter, Manitoba to Winston McKague and Eva Grace Knox. He met and fell in love with Bonnie Eldred and started his career at the Royal Bank in Pierson, Manitoba. Dennis and Bonnie embarked on an adventure and moved to Ontario where they worked for a few years, before packing up their possessions in 1965 and headed west in a 56 Buick Special. On route to Vancouver they stopped in Calgary where they decided to stay and build their family. In 1982 the family of five moved to Crossfield, Alberta, where Dennis and Bonnie finished raising their family.
Dennis was a dedicated worker and was employed at the Royal Bank, Royal Trust, Alberta Home Mortgage & Housing as a commercial mortgage manager for many years. He then branched off as an independent contractor responsible for the maintenance & upkeep of the Dickson-Stevenson Stopping House where he worked for 10 plus years. His last employment was with Adesa Auctions, in Airdrie where he worked up until his retirement.
Dennis found joy in gardening, camping, fishing, curling and relaxing by the campfire with a rye and coke. In later years Dennis and Bonnie took great pleasure going on many camping trips in their 5th wheel trailer. Dennis was an avid gardener and took great pride in making his yard beautiful. This was his happy place and he could be found there daily.
Dennis will be dearly missed, especially for his quick wit and one-liners.
The family would like to send their thanks to the doctors and staff at Dulcina Hospice for their care and support.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future date.
