In Memory
Diane Rose Werenka
Diane Rose Werenka passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 81 years young. She was surrounded by her Tribe and will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Dallas and Lisa (Tanya); her granddaughters, Cora and Leah (Clayton); and her most precious great-granddaughter, Sailor; and many, many, special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and even great-great nieces and nephews!
Diane was predeceased by her mother, Rose and father, Mike; sisters, Sylvia (Pat) and Marlene. She is survived by her sister, Connie (Brian) and brother Harvey.
She was born in Willingdon, Alberta in 1944 and grew up in Two Hills, Alberta.
She went from small town girl to big city office administrator when she was fortunate to live in Calgary, Alberta and Fountain Valley, California where she met wonderful friends who became like family.
In her own words…
She had the privilege of an exceptional profession at RPS/Boyd Petro Search where she worked with the most amazing people, John, Bob, Dick, Ruby and Kathy. She was part of the Orphans hockey team (well she was the wife of a player) and claims to have had the most fun ever in her life with legendary stories to tell. She was fortunate to travel throughout her life. She spent time in Victoria where she got into trouble with her sister Sylvia at her brother-in-law Pat’s expense, she had a very special place in Mexico- Rincon De Guayabitos, The Pohl Ranch with her two special boys Westley and Dawson and of course Graceland - a lifelong dream as she loved Elvis!
She was a fabulous cook, especially the Ukrainian dishes we all loved. She was always the fun loving and mischievous one in the family, the life of the party and brought smiles and laughter wherever she went.
She lived her life for her family and did everything she could for them. Her greatest gift was her great granddaughter Sailor Jane Smith.
A special thank you to Dr. Vakil and the South Health Campus. Thank you to Dulcina Hospice for their care, especially nurse Mercy for her compassion and love.
In her memory please have a shot of tequila (the good kind as she would say)!
A quote from Diane:
“Being a Mom, Baba and Great Baba wasn’t just part of my life, it was the very best part”

Diane was such a wonderful lady. She had a tremendous sense of humor and was always laughing and joking. She had such a positive impact on me as a boy and was so supportive and kind to Karen and I. We will always remember her fondly.
