Donna Luft

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Donna Marie Luft ( Nee Sherick) on Monday, March 2, 2026 at the age 91 years.

Donna was born February 26, 1935, the second of 3 children. She was raised in Didsbury amongst family deeply rooted in the area. While working at the Didsbury Hospital after finishing high school, Donna met the love of her life Roy Luft. They married October 22, 1954 and lived several years in town before moving to the family farm near Westcott. This is where she began her life as a farmer’s wife. The following years were busy raising 5 children along with sharing the responsibilities of a dairy and mixed cattle farm with her husband.

Donna’s life motto was Faith, Family, Friends and Farming. Her passion was baking, which went along well with her gift of hospitality. Many family and friends enjoyed her goodies around the kitchen table, a place where Donna and Roy welcomed anyone who showed up at their door.

Donna is lovingly remembered by her children, Doug (Connie) Luft, Terry (Michelle) Luft, Brenda (Bill) Kerr, Sandy (Ian) Hopfe, Leanne (Brian) McLachlin; 16 cherished grandchildren; 27 treasured great grandchildren; her sister and best friend, Nadine Luft; along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Roy Luft, infant twin grandsons, 2 infant great-grandchildren, parents, Gordon and Lena Sherick and brother, Lambert Sherick.

Donna's family send sincere gratitude to Dr. Pannu and all staff at Aspen Ridge Lodge for their compassionate care of Donna.

A Celebration of Donna’s Life will be held at the Zion Evangelical Missionary Church, AB-582, Didsbury, AB on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
