Donna Meier

Donna passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the age of 82 years old. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Don; daughter, Lori Ostergaard; grandson, Markus Ostergaard; her sister, Bobbie Livingstone and family (Saskatoon); and sister in-law, Sharon Kimble and family (Grande Prairie). She was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Dorothy Ashworth; and parents-in-law, Philip and Stephina Meier.

Donna was a gentle lady who treated everyone with respect. She was born in Quebec and raised in Saskatoon. As an adult she moved to Alberta living in Fox Creek and Edson. The family had the opportunity to live in Dubai, UAE for eight years and during that time travelled to many countries in the Far East and Europe. Upon returning to Canada she returned to Edson for a short time followed by Cochrane and Carstairs, Alberta.

Donna enjoyed travel including spending winters in Arizona and taking cruises to many parts of the world. Her passion was to scrapbook photos and keepsakes from all of the places she visited. She started scrapbooking after a trip to Kenya. She also collected paintings and prints as reminders of her travels. While in Edson, Donna worked as a Teacher's Aide helping students from grades 1 - 3. She enjoyed this work very much. Donna loved animals. In her youth, her family had race horses and she worked in the barns. If there was a dog or cat nearby they were guaranteed to get lots of attention and treats.

The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 36 (Special Services Building) at the Foothills Medical Centre and at Dulcina Hospice for their care and attention during her hours of need. A celebration of life will be held in the early summer at Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cemetery in Saskatoon.

In lieu of sending flowers, please make donations to your favourite animal rescue.

We have so many great memories from the many years we were friends. From 1979 and our 8 years in Dubai, to our Alaskan Cruise with Don and Donna, many good times together in a Mexico, visits in Arizona and our last European Cruise that Don organized for the 4 of us. We will have a big hole in our life and hearts with the loss of Donna in it. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Don, Lori, Marcus and the remainder of her family.

Our deepest sympathy and condolences to Don, Lori and Markus. I have very fond memories of Donna from Dubai days. Such a fun person with a big heart. She made everyone feel welcome in her home, and was a great mum to Lori, who she loved so much. Moe Mai ra Donna. Arohanui, Selina and the Head Family xxx

Our heartfelt condolences to Don, Lori and Marcus
We hadn’t remained in touch the last few years, but often thought of all of you.
Donna was never without a smile, a laugh or a gleam in her eye. To us she always seemed to have a positive attitude and a spirit for adventure.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
