Douglas Mark Liesemer

Douglas Mark Liesemer was born October 24, 1977 and passed away suddenly May 25, 2024.  Doug is the eldest son of Kathy and Murray Liesemer.  He was raised in the Carstairs / Cremona area and always considered that his home base.

Doug attended K-12 at Hugh Sutherland School in Carstairs.  He attended SAIT, where he took his apprenticeship training and received his Journeyman Electrician ticket in June 2007.  Doug was a member of IBEW424 and worked for many years in the Fort McMurray area for several companies, most recently with Stuart Olson (formerly Norcan Electric Inc).

Doug’s early life was full of adventure and he developed a passion for the outdoors – camping, fishing, and quadding.  Most of all, Doug loved a good campfire and usually established himself as “fire master”.  Doug had a sense of humour and a sense of adventure.  He was adored by his niece and nephews.  He worked hard and played hard; Doug lived life on his own terms.

Doug is lovingly remembered by his mom, Kathy Louise Adams; his “little brother”, Jeremy; sister-in-law, Jackie; nephew, Layne; niece, Hailey; sister-in-law, Kaela; nephew, Donavon; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and their children who Doug loved like family.

Doug is predeceased by his youngest brother, Ian James (2011); his dad, Murray Lloyd (2019); Grandpa Ron and Grandma Donna; Grandpa Dave and Grandma Evelyn; Aunt Karen and Uncle Pat.

The family would like to thank Prairie Rose Cremation & Funeral Services for their assistance. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1200-2300 Yonge St, Box 2414 Toronto, ON M4P1E4.

There will be a private family service and a Celebration of Doug’s life will be held at a later date.  Please watch for that notification.

To all our condolences and prayers. Doug, Jeremy, Pat and myself went fishing at the James-Wilson campground. It rained pretty hard and we had to shovel gravel under parts of the tent to keep the sleeping bags dry. When it dried enough to go fishing we almost all fell in the river due to the higher water levels. After we dried off sitting around the campfire we were all laughing at the days events. I cherish those memories and will dearly miss our fire time. Love you Doug. And all the family and friends who will miss you for their own reasons.

One, I'm so sorry. My heart breaks for you all. Two, camping at dog pound, drinking too much booze, throwing a can of corn in the fire only to have it go BANG POPOP! Never laughed so hard. It was so cold that night and I slept beside a big bear of a man that kept me warm all night (as a friend) . One of my besties - love and miss you buddy RIP
