Douglas Murray Mosier

Douglas Mosier of Red Deer passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the age of 63.

Doug was a longtime resident of Michener Centre in Red Deer, where he lived for 59 years. He was deeply cherished and well-known not only among his fellow residents, group home staff, and the broader Michener community, but also among the aquatics staff at the nearby Michener Aquatic Centre. Doug was a true inspiration to everyone who knew him—he reminded us all to laugh often, to cherish the simple joys in life, and to approach each day with positivity and heart.

With his wonderful sense of humour, Doug could light up any room and bring smiles to those around him. He was incredibly funny, possessed a strong work ethic, and held deep love for his family and friends. Intuitive, kind, and famously stubborn in the most endearing way, Doug also had a special talent for dancing—his Elvis routines at the Friday night dances at Michener were legendary and unforgettable!

Sundays spent together with Doug were always an adventure, as two generations grew up alongside him, creating countless cherished stories and memories that will live on forever.

Doug is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Wendy Mosier and Debbie Berlinguette; and his nieces and nephews, Tim (Tarah) Baergen, Colin (Taylor) Bouteiller, Mackenzie (Justin) Ritchie, Amy (Justin) Berlinguette, and Kaylin Berlinguette.

He was predeceased by his parents, Brenda and Gordon Gross; his father Gordon Mosier and his brother-in-law, Mark Berlinguette.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Michener Centre. There are so many special individuals—too many to name—who provided Doug with exceptional care and the highest quality of life throughout his years there. We are deeply grateful.

Join us for a fun celebration honoring Doug, featuring bowling and a pizza party!

It all kicks off at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 30, 2026, at The Gutter Bowling Alley, located at 5118-47 Ave. For those not wishing to bowl, please come have pizza with us, and share some good Dougie memories.

Doug’s spirit, joy, and unbreakable spirit will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, dear Doug.

I had the pleasure to get to know and love Doug. How could you help but not love him. ♥ A visit from Doug was always welcomed and he just made the day! He was sweet and kind, and so very creative! I loved that about him. He just lit up a room when he walked in and you couldn't help but smile. Being admin support, Doug would on occasion come behind my desk and answer my phone for me......well, pick up the phone and say, "okay...okay", even if it wasn't ringing. He might sneak in pushing a few of the keys on my keyboard, and then he'd be on his way to visit the next person en route. There are far too many stories/memories to share, but I can say knowing Doug made my life better. Rest in peace my sweet friend.

I had the opportunity to get to know Doug when I worked at Michener. He lit up my day when he came through to say hi. He made me laugh with his teasing and hearty laugh. How many times did he turn off the light while I was in the bathroom? Or lock the doors or run as fast as he could to get away - laughing the whole time. He was quick to give a hug, rub my head and tell me what holiday was coming up. Doug, I will miss the ability to say hi and chat with you. The memories you created and the times we carried on, thank you as they live with me forever! May you find peace!
