In Memory
Eleanor Richael Tweten
It is with deep sadness that the Family of Richael Tweten (nee Willliams) announce her passing, on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the age of 71.
Richael was born June 27, 1953 in Taber AB, and grew up in Lethbridge AB. She was predeceased by her parents, Orphee and Richard (Dick) Williams.
Richael will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years, Ralph Tweten; her son, Brennen Tweten (Christina); and daughters, Aleida Tweten (Mike), and Jennifer Russell (Jaimy). She leaves six grandchildren whom she adored, Skylar Couture, Caleb Couture, James Redmond, Benjamin Tweten, Rebecca Tweten, and Aviannah Russell. She will be missed by her sisters, Corrine (Rod), Ashlyn (Derek), Penny (Colm), and her brother Edwin (Norma), as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.
While attending college in Lethbridge, Richael's summer jobs included lead Camp Director at the local Y, where she designed and excelled in the operation of the summer camps for hundreds of children. Richael completed her education with a degree in Recreation, majoring in Aquatics. She passed this training down to all of her children, all of whom are excellent swimmers. She was very influential in all of her children qualifying as competent Life Guards, all of whom used their training for summer and some full time employment. She was so proud of them.
To pursue her interest in travel, she joined Time Air, a local airline, as a Flight Attendant and thoroughly enjoyed flying. During a showing of the company operations before her employment began, in December 1974, she met her future husband, Ralph Tweten, a Pilot with the Airline. They married in December 1975, and worked in South Iran for two years where she flew many times with Ralph, made many friends, and loved the Overseas lifestyle. They settled back in Alberta, living in Wetaskiwin, Calgary, Sherwood Park, and returning once again to Calgary in 1998, where she was a very loving mother to her three children.
She will always be fondly remembered by her family. Richael loved working in her garden, and seeing the results of her landscaping ideas come to life in time. She liked to share her horticultural knowledge with anyone who asked. She loved cooking and baking, and was known for her superb Christmas baking which was given to her sibling’s family each year. She cherished her summers at the lake with her children, grandchildren, and extended family by enjoying swimming, horses, and the natural simplicity of the Rocky Mountains.
The Family would like to thank the caring staff at the Arthur J E Child Cancer Center.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Richael's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

Jeff and I are so very sad to learn of Richael's passing. I will always remember a sweet visit we had at the lake, and the many stories that Dick and Orphee shared with us about their 'young' family. We share an abiding love for the area and it's natural beauty, and she, like they, will always be a part of it, for us. Our heartfelt condolences.
