Elsie Jean "E.J." Hardee
December 30th, 1941 - May 20th, 2025
Born in Big River, Saskatchewan
Passed in Calgary, Alberta

Elsie Jean “E. J.” Hardee, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the age of 83 years.
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend—whose kindness and love touched everyone around her—will be deeply missed. Her beautiful smile brought joy and laughter to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was born on December 30, 1941, in the northern town of Big River, Saskatchewan.
E.J. loved being outdoors, especially near the water and around birch trees—they were her favorite. She always enjoyed a good game of crib and liked hitting the golf course when she could. Watching sports was a big part of her life too, and she never missed a chance to cheer on the Blue Jays. But more than anything, spending time with her kids and their families made her happiest. Those moments meant the world to her.
She discovered her true calling when she became a Certified Financial Planner with Investors Group in 1998. Driven by a deep passion for helping others, she found genuine fulfillment in guiding her clients through their financial journeys. Her work was more than a career—it was a way to connect deeply with people.
E.J.’s family was her greatest joy. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Frank Krieter and his wife Tracey, Claire Cyr and her husband Rob; her grandchildren, Liza-Jane Porter and her husband Dustin, Kali Krieter, Franklin Krieter, Sydney Cyr and her partner Brad Lazzarotto, Madelaine Cyr and her partner Conall Minter, Hannah Cyr and her fiancé James Miranda; her great-grandchildren, Braxton Kilborn, Ivy-Lea Porter and Maisie Lazzarotto.
A Celebration of Life in E.J.’s honor will be held at the Triwood Community Association, 2244 Chicoutimi Dr NW, Calgary, Alberta on Friday, July 18th at 1 PM. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a fabulous lady!
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine. The Cumming School of Medicine is reimagining health for all, driving transformative change in medical education, clinical practice, biomedical and health outcomes research.

EJ and I met working together in the 80s. We instantly had a connection, which automatically turned into a lifelong friendship. We spent many wonderful times traveling and taking walks through the wonderful gardens in the area. she was the one I always called and she kept me grounded and always gave me advice that I needed to hear at that time. I will miss her so much! Always in my ❤️ until we meet again, my sister 🩷

So sad to hear of EJ passing too soon in her life. EJ and I met in 1983 as Mary Kay Cosmetic pals. We vacationed together may times to Sedona to experience the Vortex locations and watch the sun set over the red landscape. We travelled a few times to Vancouver Island to Parksville/Qualicum Beach, storm watched in Long Beach Tofino staying at the amazing Wickaninnish Inn from a balcony draped over the ocean waves [only way to truly storm watch], we cruised around in a cherry red convertible and all planned by EJ. I organized accommodations and she planned the toppings. We telephone chatted, shared time together over breakfasts and lunches as often as we could and more recently we dined together with liver and onions at Nicks. Our times together are precious memories. I am missing her still and our friendship forever.
My condolences to all her family. EJ shared pictures and stories of each of you and particularly Liza-Jane and her life and successes. I met Liz-Jane with EJ over a dinner in Calgary, Claire I have know since 1983 as we three were party pals on several occasions. I have met Hannah, Frank and Tracey in the past and I look forward to meet the remaining family members on July 18th.

So sad to let EJ move on to her next adventure. I will be unable to attend the celebration in Triwood, but want the family to know how much I cared for her. We were cribbage pals at DCA, sharing laughs, and walks, and talks. I provided a bunch of meals for her also. I so miss her wit and wisdom.
