Emma Rutledge

Emma Elise Rutledge (nee Bauer) was born on her family’s homestead in Mannville, AB, in 1927. She left home at a young age and soon met her life partner and loving husband Stan, in Chicoutimi, QC. Married for 70 years, together they travelled often for both work and pleasure. Emma had many talents including cooking, pottery, curling, and rug-hooking. In retirement she and Stan travelled between Port Charlotte, FL., and White Rock, BC., where together they enjoyed visiting with their many friends, hiking, square dancing, and lawn bowling. Emma is lovingly remembered by her sons, Bob (Kitty) and Jim (Pam); daughter-in-law, Joan; as well as Les (Alison) and Judy Watling. She will be greatly missed by her 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded by her husband, Stan; and son, Bill.

A Memorial Service in Kananaskis is planned to take place in the spring.

Those who touch our lives stay in our hearts forever.

We are sad ro hear of your loss, and share your grief at losing Aunt Emma (and Uncle Stan). They were very special people, who lived full/rich lives! My mother (her older sister Marie) was very close to Emma growing up (Em said Marie was like a mother to her!) My wife & I visited Aunt Em & Uncle Stan on our honeymoon trip 6.5 years ago (they were living in Vancouver then), and they were a joy to spend time with!
Several of us would like to attend the memorial service, if possible. Please let us know when arrangements are set, so we can make flight and rental arrangements ... maybe other nieces & nephews would like to attend, too! (We'd be flying from Detroit, so would need to check/update our passports, etc.)
