Erhard Poggemiller
Our family is deeply
saddened to share the sudden loss of Erhard Carl Poggemiller, age 72, from
Didsbury, Alberta, on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the Foothills Hospital in
Calgary due to rapidly progressing lung cancer.
Erhard was born on
August 30, 1951, in Kerrobert, SK. Erhard was an entrepreneur, businessman,
community leader and builder. He lived on and managed the family farm with his
family near Luseland, SK while also running a successful manufacturing business
in Kerrobert, SK for over 30 years. He developed a well-rounded entrepreneurial
background with extensive technical education and experience. Erhard retired to
Didsbury, AB in 2017 with his wife, Evelyn, to be closer to their
grandchildren.
He enjoyed contributing to his community and valued building relationships along the way. He was involved with many community boards. He served in municipal politics as a Counselor in Didsbury, AB, a Mayor in Kerrobert, SK and a committed member of the United Conservative Party until he passed.
He will be remembered
for his many accomplishments, his generous heart, and the many people whose
lives he touched.
Erhard will be lovingly
remembered by his wife of 49 years, Evelyn Poggemiller; their children,
Charlene Bowman (Clinton Soetaert), Robert Poggemiller (Amanda Blair), and
Cherise Poggemiller (Chad Erickson); his grandchildren, JD, Kamryn, Evy,
Jennessa and Oliver; and his sister Dr. Trudy Poggemiller (son William).
Erhard is predeceased
by his parents, William and Elly Poggemiller and his son, Donald Poggemiller.
A Celebration of Life will
be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1500 – 23 Street, Didsbury, AB on
Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM. A Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM –
10:45 AM (MST). Interment Service will follow at the Sylvan Lake Lakeview Cemetery.
