In Memory
Eric Johannes Koprek
Eric J. Koprek born in Gross Strehlitz, Germany passed away on December 29, 2024 at the age of 96. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley, his children, Edith (Richard), Derek and Cheryl; his stepson, Kelly (Kathy) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eric loved spending time with all the grandkids, making things for them and bringing them ice cream were a couple of his favourites.
Eric was an engineer and said that one of his greatest achievements was being a senior V.P and a founding member of Delta Projects Ltd., where he worked on many ventures in Canada and worldwide. Eric was also proud of the fact that he moved to Canada and learned a new language at the age of 23, and that he built two of his own houses and upgraded many others.
Eric had many hobbies over his lifetime. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, wine making, gardening, making and listening to music, breeding fish, electronics, swimming, painting, photography, cake decorating, cooking and baking, to mention a few.
Eric felt that his purpose in life was to achieve, and create something that people would benefit from, evident in both his career and hobbies.
Eric and Shirley both loved to travel, and after he retired, they enjoyed cruising the world together for many years.
At Eric’s request, no Funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the CNIB www.cnib.ca

I read about Eric Koprek passing in the Calgary Herald this weekend and I wanted to extend my condolences to you both for the loss of your father and husband.
In my brief time spent with Mr.Koprek at your family gatherings, dinners at the golf club, and visits to both of your homes I was always very impressed by Mr.Koprek. He was a true man of the world, an internationalist, and wielded a sharp understanding of business and politics. From my observations his intellect was only paralleled by his kindness, sense of style, and adoration of his family.
The conversations I had with Mr.Koprek have stayed with me. During the last five years I found myself thinking about him often. His insights on business, history, and life that he passed on to me in our talks have been of great value to me.
I wish you both the best at this difficult time, yourselves and Eric are in my thoughts.
Sincerely,
Reid Pollock

I was fortunate enough to be included in the many dinners mom (Kathy)and dad(Bill Galloway) shared with Eric and Shirley over the years. Eric and dad would discuss fishing-then sample the wine; music- then savour the beef; wine - then sample the wine; woodworking - then enjoy the dessert. Shirley and mom talking bridge and laughing. Wonderful evenings!!
My condolences to you all and may your happy memories fill your hearts to help ease the loss and hurt you have now.
Wrapping you all in a loving hug❤️🙏

During the 70's ,80's and 90's we shared a number of adventures and evenings , ski tips and visits to the Columia Lake "second home" of Eric and Shirley.
My business dealings with Eric will also always be remembered as one of mutual respect and pleasure and I remain grateful for the opportunity to be part of some of the projects that Eric spearheaded at Delta Projects;
