In Memory
Eveline Saull

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing in her sleep of Eveline Saull on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the age of 93. Loving wife of Vincent; she is Lovingly remembered by daughters, Christine, Stephanie, Kathleen and Dorothea; son Patrick; sons-in-law, Brian, Andrew and Ian; daughter-in-law, Laurel; grandsons, Alex, Dillon, Brett, Sean, Aidan and Owen; sister, Dorothea; and nephew, Bruno.
Eveline was born in Brazil to Salvation Army parents and came alone to Canada in 1952 to expand her horizons. She worked briefly at the CBC, utilizing the four languages she had command of before meeting her future husband at a McGill University dance in Montreal.
Not content with the expectations placed upon women of her time, she obtained a B.Sc. by attending night classes while raising five children. An expressive pianist, our home was filled with dramatic classical music and singing around the piano. Her love of nature and free-spiritedness allowed her children to run barefoot and explore the world outdoors, and meant the house was filled with exotic plants. She enjoyed fishing, walking in the woods and was an avid gardener who could grow almost anything anywhere.
A talented volleyball player and high jumper in her youth, she turned to running later in life, competing in Masters track events where she held Canadian records. In keeping with her giving nature, she added Track and Field Coaching to her interests and achievements. She also worked for many years at the CLSC as a Registered Nurse’s Aide.
After 60 years in Montreal, her next adventure was to move to Calgary at 87, where her lifelong devotion to Christ led her to convert to the Catholic faith at 90. A lifelong learner with an insistently positive outlook on life, her resilience and sense of humour seemed to grow as she aged, inspiring many of us.
There will be a private family Funeral Service now and a Celebration of Life later. We thank all the wonderful people who lovingly cared for Eveline. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, www.donate.salvationarmy.ca
