Francis "Andy" Carew passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024. He will be lovingly remembered by his three sons, Terrence and his wife Wanda, Michael and his wife Sandra, and Ronald and his wife Susan; as well as his grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Andrew, Aiden, Daniel, and Brandon. Francis was born on November 30, 1932, in Newcastle, Northumberland County, New Brunswick.

Andy and Shirley were active members of the Royal Canadian Legion in Montreal and continued their involvement after moving to Airdrie in 1996 at Legion Branch #288. Together, they volunteered many hours organizing functions and serving on committees, with a particular passion for the Poppy Fund.

Andy enjoyed playing darts, pool, and crib and participated in several leagues. Andy also loved fishing with his brother and nephews in New Brunswick and brother-in-laws in Nova Scotia.

After graduating from high school, Andy joined the Air Force, which paved the way for a career as an Air Traffic Controller for Nord Air and Air Canada in Montreal, where he lived for 35 years and raised their family.

In 1996, Andy and Shirley retired and moved to Airdrie to be closer to their sons and grandchildren.

Andy will be remembered as a kind man, always with a smile.

"Be happy, love those around you and remember time waits for no one"

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Andy in Dispatch for Nordair. I became a flight attendant and I always made sure to stop by and say hello to Andy.
He was a true gentleman and kind soul.
Rest in peace......

I couldn't have asked for a better brother in law. Barry and I and Andy and Shirley took many vacations together with lots of laughs. They say laughter is the best medicine. That is all we did with Andy and Shirley. I enjoyed the many summers he came and stayed with us after Shirley passed. He will be forever in our hearts.
