Frank Leonard Stearns
The family of Frank Leonard Stearns is saddened to announce his passing on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Bethany Care Centre in Didsbury.
Frank was born in the Acme, AB area in Dec. 1937 to Wesley and Dorothy Stearns (Jackson). Frank grew up on the family farm where, as a boy, he was his father’s helper.
He attended school at Green Acre and Davies Schools then went to Acme High School. After graduation he attended Olds School of Agriculture for one year then returned home to farm with his father. Frank moved to Calgary in the early 1970’s while still running the farm. While in Calgary he drove a delivery truck in the off season. After about 20 years in Calgary, Frank returned home to full time farming until he rented the farm to family members in 2004. Even though the farm was rented he still was part of the crew, helping with seeding and harvest and showing a keen interest in all the machinery.
Along with farming, Frank enjoyed travelling and ballroom dancing. He went on several cruises. He was an excellent dancer and travelled many miles to go to a dance.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, his older sister, Luciane Trick (Gerry) and an infant brother. He is lovingly remembered by two sisters, Sheila (Vic) Yuschyshyn and Ruth (Gerry) Good. He is also remembered by Luciane’s children, Lana, Mona, Teena, Michael and Lloyd; Sheila’s children, Cynthia, Kim and Trevor and Ruth’s children, Jay and Lindsey.
