Frederick (Fred) Brown
passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024, at the age of 95 years. He was the first-born
child to Norman and Esther Brown.
Fred grew up on the family
farm at Birnie, Manitoba, farming with his father. In 1952, while employed with
Peterson’s Road Builders from Winnipeg, he came to Alberta to help build number
2 highway and highway 582 into Didsbury. During this time, he met Geraldine
Fulkerth and they were married in December 1959.
Fred was a farmer at heart
and continued farming and repairing farm equipment until 2023 when it became
difficult to get around.
He will be lovingly
remembered by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine; his son, Jim; daughter, Carolyn
(Iain) Ritchie; grandchildren, Melaine and Russell Brown and Lillian and Mary
Ritchie; brother, Harold; sister-in-law, Audrey Brown; brother-in-law, Russ
Wilson; and sisters-in-law, Maxine Ollech and Emily Fulkerth; as well as
numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his
parents, Norman and Esther; brother, Arthur; sister, Rhoda Wilson; nephew, Toby
Wilson; sister-in-law, Nancy Brown; brother and sister-in-law, Bernie and Anna
Mae Fulkerth; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Fulkerth and Fred Ollech.
The family would like to
thank Dr. Bruner, Dr. Milnar and all the nursing and hospital staff at the
Didsbury Hospital for the excellent care given to Fred during his stay. Words
can’t express how your caring kindness helped us through this very difficult
time.
At Fred’s request there
will be no service.
In lieu of flowers,
donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
