Gary Christopher Fisher
Gary was born Sept 5th, 1953, to Albert and Odile Fisher in Rosthern Saskatchewan. He passed away early Oct 11th, 2025, in Calgary after a short illness.
With heavy hearts he will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Lorna; daughters, Rachelle (Jeremy), Randilee (Randy); granddaughter, Madisun (Josh); grandson, Garrett; and all those who called him Papa; as well as, Brothers Richard (Sharon), Loyd (Heather), Sister Fern, surviving Brothers-in-law, Sisters-In-Law, nieces and nephews.
Gary grew up in Duck Lake Saskatchewan, the youngest of 10 children. Gary's love of horses started early, he made many miles around the family ranch on horseback. Eventually following in his older brother’s footsteps becoming an Outrider on the professional chuckwagon circuit.
In the early 1970s, Gary moved to Alberta following his older brothers where he met Lorna. They married in 1979 and settled on a farm west of Didsbury. Gary and Lorna welcomed their first daughter in 1983 and their second in 1987. After having a few jobs away from home, he decided to get employment locally so he could watch his daughters grow up. Gary worked with Champion Hay Processors until the plant closed after 20 years of employment. With the help of his wife and daughters, they raised cattle for many years and almost always had a few horses around.
He enjoyed being part of the 4-H community, contributing to all activities, fundraisers, and animal projects with his girls.
Gary had numerous interests including woodworking and metal projects. HIs craft pile was steadily growing with elaborate plans and ideas.
Throughout the years, Gary and the family enjoyed many trips together near and far.
As Gary's family grew with the addition of grandchildren, some biological and some simply claimed, Gary proudly became Papa to many. The more he could crowd around his table the happier he was.
He is predeceased by grandson, Reid (who Papa called little man); his parents; and 6 siblings.
