George is 1 of 4 children born to Ella and Irvin Meggison.  He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Dawn-Marie (Larry) Cinnamon of Cochrane; and son, Phillip (Chantal) Meggison of Spruce Grove. Papa had 6 amazing grandchildren, Zoe, Max, Ethan, Kamden, Alexandra and Charlotte.  George is lovingly remembered by his beautiful family consisting of; sister, Nevone (Don) McIntosh; brother, Gord (Mary) Meggison; brother-in-law, Barry Warnica; sisters-in-law, Georgia (Robert) Schediwy, Donna Wilkins and Barb (Doug) Fenton; brothers-in-law, Everett Landon and Mark (Sandee Greatrex) Saunders; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. George lost the love of his life, Heather, 16 years ago but now they are reunited once again.  George was predeceased by his wife, Heather, sister, Donna Warnica, sister-in-law, Gail Landon and brother-in-law, Jim Wilkins, as well as his parents Irvin and Ella Meggison and Amos and Mary Wilkins.

George resided in Airdrie with Heather for 41 years before joining Dawn-Marie and family in Cochrane.  He loved watching sports, camping, playing cards with family and friends, backyard barbecues and so much more. George retired after 20 years with Amway and 10 years with Thorlaksen Feedlots.  He enjoyed his downtime with the grandkids watching them grow and enjoyed his Friday night dinners with his friends.  He loved to watch curling, especially when it was one of the grandkids.  He had a sharp wit and was a great story teller.  He left an indelible mark on all those he met.  He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered for the amazing man he was.

The families of George would like to thank the Doctors and nurses at Rockyview Hospital as well as Bow View Manor for the excellent care they showed him in his last few weeks.

A Celebration of George’s life will be held at the Town and Country Centre (275 Jensen Drive Ne, Airdrie) on Thursday, May 30th at 1:00pm. If friends or family so desire, a donation in George’s name may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 55 St. Clair Ave. West Suite 500, Toronto, ON, M4V 2Y7

George was a kind and generous man with a great sense of humour. He saw the humorous side especially when it came to sports and politics. He was a genuine nice guy! What stands out the most for Doug and I was in November of 2017. We were at the funeral for Doug’s mom and all of us dealing with our grief in our own way…then we happen to look back and there is George sitting a few rows back of us. He was like a beacon of light or an angel. It meant a lot to both of us. Apparently he’d seen the obituary and he said he just had to come. We sat and talked and the years apart melted away♥️

George was a light in this world who showed compassion, love and wit to all who were lucky enough to be in his presence. I will miss him and forever treasure the time I had with him (and Heather) and am grateful for the love the Meggason family has always shown me. My thoughts are with you all xoxo
