In Memory
Gerda Boake

It is with profound
gratitude that we honour the life of Gerda Anne Boake (née Bolte),
who passed gently into the arms of Jesus, on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the
age of 85.
Gerda
was born in Edmonton on August 14,
1938, the youngest child of Hans and Eva Bolte (née Truscott). She graduated
from nursing school at the Royal Alexander
Hospital in Edmonton in 1960. In 1961, she relocated to Red Deer, where she
devoted herself to the raising of her children
and grandchildren. Gerda found a creative outlet
in ceramics, producing and selling her pottery locally, and teaching her
craft at both the city and local college levels. She was also a skilled
dressmaker, knitter and an avid gardener, and she found strength and community
in her church family and Bible study group.
Gerda is survived by her two sisters, Helen Repka and Joan (Bill)
Palliser. She will be lovingly remembered by her family,
including her three
children, Kelly (Len)
Beauchamp, Leah (Mike) Butler, and Noreen Edgar; as well as her nine
grandchildren, Sarah, Kristopher, Jesse, Terrance,
David, John, Matthew,
Elizabeth, and Anna; and her fifteen
great grandchildren.
A celebration of Gerda’s life will be held in the spring,
honouring the legacy
of a woman whose love and dedication touched the lives of many.
