Giovanni Fainella

We are deeply saddened to announce that Giovanni Fainella passed away at the age of 75 on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. He was predeceased by his mother, Rosa; father, Silvio; and is lovingly remembered by his sister, Adele.

John was born in Antrodoco, Italy, and moved to Calgary with his family in the early 1960s. After graduating high school, he pursued higher education at the University of Calgary. John continued his studies at McGill University in Montreal, earning a PhD in Psychology. He dedicated many years to teaching as a professor, had a passion for writing, was an avid guitarist, loved the outdoors, and frequently travelled to Italy. In 2014, John returned to Calgary after residing for an extended period in Pickering, Ontario. A private family service will be held to honour his memory. Go with God, John.
