Glenna Schulz
SCHULZ,
Glenna
Glenna Schulz passed away peacefully, and
surrounded by family, on Friday, August 25 at the age of 82. She will be
lovingly remembered by her four children, Paul (m. Jillian Arnusch), Rita,
Karen (m. Ian McAllister) and Mark. She was a devoted Nana, to Alex,
Emily, Sarah, Meghan, Callum and Lucy. She will be fondly remembered by
her brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Rosalie Jorgensen; sister-in-law,
Helen Jorgensen, as well as her dear friends, Beatrice, Mabel and Diane.
Glenna was predeceased by her loving husband, Peter; parents, Holger and Else
Jorgensen; and brothers, Ove, Gert and Gordon Jorgensen.
Glenna grew up as a farm girl with four older brothers, first in Scandia, and
then in Olds, Alberta. While attending high school in Red Deer, she met
her lifelong friends: Beatrice, Rosalie, Mabel and Ruth, and they would go on
to meet at least once a year for over fifty years. Soon after high
school, brother Gordon brought his friend Peter home to the farm, where he met
Glenna. They soon married and enjoyed a long and romantic honeymoon in Europe,
which exemplified their love for travel. Through 54 years of marriage, they
returned to Europe a few times, travelled to China, Cuba, Mexico, Indonesia and
throughout Canada and the United States. Glenna loved the ocean, and she
and Peter enjoyed many summers on the British Columbia coast, mostly staying on
Gabriola Island.
Glenna was a talented artist, leaving many pieces that will be cherished
forever by family. She enjoyed being part of art clubs and shared her talents
later in life volunteering and teaching kids arts and crafts. Beyond art,
Glenna was a great cook, who especially liked to experiment with recipes from
different cultures and nationalities. She was an avid reader, and loved going
for long walks.
Above all, Glenna loved being a mother and grandmother. She loved her family more than anything, and made sure each of her children/grandchildren had the best childhood experiences ever. Christmas (where she carried on Scandinavian traditions), Easter and Birthdays were always made special and summer camping holidays were always a priority. Glenna had an infectious sense of humour, and always had a funny quip or story to tell. She was full of life, laughter and love.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evanston Grand Village and
Foothills Hospital, Unit 46.
