Gordon Edward Henderson
Gordon Edward Henderson, age 93, of Red Deer, Alberta, passed peacefully on October 27, 2024 in Palliative Care in Red Deer Regional Hospital.
He was born on September 30, 1931, to Thomas and Mary Helen Henderson (nee Reynolds) in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan.
Gordon attended the Normal School in Lloydminster, SK between the year of 1952-1953, where he obtained his Teaching Certificate. He taught from 1953-1985 with a short one year break in 1955, where he worked as a junior accountant. His work as a teacher took him to Coleville, SK, Leask, SK, Baden-Baden, Germany, and finally to Saskatoon, SK, where he finished his career as a vice-principal at St. Mark’s School.
While teaching in Baden-Baden, Germany, Gordon married Jacqueline Young.
Gordon is lovingly remembered by his two sons, Daryn of Red Deer, AB, Shawn (Antonella) of Guelph, ON; and his sister, Nora of Red Deer, AB.
Gordon loved gardening and as he got older he loved taking walks in the fresh air. Gordon continued to exercise up until he entered hospital. He was still winning push-up contests against the kids until he was 92.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Helen Henderson, his siblings, Hank (Lois), Thomas, George “Sharky” (Laura), John (Lee), Helen (Scotty), Donald, Marg (Ed), and Robert (Norma “Gus”).

There will be a private Interment following the Memorial Service at St. John’s Cathedral Columbarium in Saskatoon, SK.
Gordon will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him. We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Red Deer Hospital and in the Palliative care Unit for providing care and comfort for Gordon and for always treating him with dignity and respect.
