Gordon Robertson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa, Gordon Alexander Robertson who passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, April 6th, 2026.

Gordon was born on February 18, 1936 in Didsbury, AB to Alexander (Alec) and Ethel Robertson. He grew up on the banks of the Dog Pound Creek west of Carstairs, AB on the family farm. He attended the one room Jackson School from grades 1-9, and Didsbury High School for Grades 10-12.

In 1956 he met the love of his life, Gertrude Langard and they married in July 1958, building a life of almost 68 years together, with 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Gordon loved his wife Gertrude “Trudy” and his family above all. He was a farmer true and true, spending most of his life on the farm west of Didsbury in the Westcott community before moving to Didsbury in 2010 and later moving to Calgary in 2024.

He will be remembered as a kind gentleman who could light up the room with his laugh and his voice.

He is lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Gertrude; 4 children, Bruce Robertson, Steve Robertson (Jen), Heather Verbeek (Doug) and Sheila Thumlert (Jeff); 5 grandchildren, Josh Robertson (Brittney), Brittany Crowe (Jeff), Meg Verbeek (Austin Nixdorff), Cole Robertson (Hannah) and Sophie Thumlert; as well as 8 great grandchildren, Trent and Wyatt Robertson, Parker and Alec Crowe, Wally, Rory and Blair Nixdorff and Aspen Robertson.

The family would like to thank the staff of Trico Living Well in Calgary who loved and cared for Gordon like he was their own Dad/Grandpa.

A Memorial Service will be held at Didsbury Zion Church on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM with a luncheon to follow.
